PROJ 2A: Observation Deck @ Cape Rachado
In the second project, we are required to carry out a site analysis at the selected site, in terms of, site plan, existing structure, landscape, climatic studies, circulation, vies and vistas, and activities on site. The analysis should then be compiled and presented on a given date.
From the site analysis, we are to select a suitable site and design an observation deck of not more than 30m3 with the purpose of observing views. The observation deck should also corresponds to the site selected with adequate access and fenestration.
For my group, we have decided to cantilever our observation deck by the cliff where its facade is deterined by the contour. The observation deck also implement the nature's element. The entrance to the observation deck also emphasized on light and shadow where the gap in between the louvers acts like a portal for the user which brings them from a man-made environment to nature.
REFLECTION
From this project, I have learned how to carry out site analysis in terms of climatic studies. Other than that, I also learned how to design a structure which corresponds to the site and also inspired from it.
